Platforms

Umana is available on two platforms

  • A desktop (or laptop) computer platform (Windows)
  • A Web platform (for phone and tablet or Mac)

The two platforms access the same data base, so they are always in sync with your data.

  • Both platforms cache reference tables locally for efficiency, so rules and code might be stale until refreshed.

But they are designed for different users with different needs.

Desktop platform

The (Windows) desktop version is for back-office HR and payroll staff and administrators. It...

  • Only runs a Windows computer, or in a browser with a large screen.
  • Requires a mouse and large screen. Lets you open multiple windows and view multiple employees at once.
  • Is more complex and more powerful. The full power of Umana is here.
  • Handles system configuration, rule creation, code creation, troubleshooting.
  • Is great for report printing, importing, exporting, analysis, regular HR & Payroll processes.
  • Looks "Windows-y"

Web platform

The Web version is for regular employees doing their daily work.

  • Only runs in a browser
  • Is about one employee – you. The one who signs in.
    (Will handle manager needs in the future.)
  • "Responsive" design for smaller screens like tablets and phones
  • Easy to use with little training.
  • Has limited functionality.
  • Looks more "Web-y"
