NOW panel (green)
The NOW panel is at the top (maybe left) of the timesheet, with a pale green background.
Enter your activity as you do it
This is the preferred way to enter your time worked.
- Quick and convenient. You don't need to think back over your day to remember what you did.
- Uses the date and time from your device — although you can adjust them manually.
- Prompts you for the job performed, dept and location where worked, project — defaulting to your usual job, dept, etc.
- Lets others know where you are, right now.
This panel is only for today or for an overnight shift tonight. Use the one-day panel to view and update other days.
Sections
- Top band: Today's date and time
- Today's schedule.
Press the line with the for more info. - Action buttons, to record what you are doing.
Action buttons
Press a button to show what you are doing. After pressing, you will be able to enter details of what you will-do / just-did. You will also be able to tweak the times.
To enter time worked
- Press the green START WORK button when you start work
- Press the orange START BREAK button when you leave on break (lunch or whatever)
- Press the RESUME WORK button when you come back from break
- Press the red END WORK button when you are done and the shift is over.
(Your company may not have you punch out-and-in for lunch.)
- If you change work (job, dept, project, etc.) mid-shift, press the CHANGE ACTIVITY button to enter it.
To enter an absence
Press the blue absence button.
- If you have an absence planned for today, it will be larger.
A dialog box will open to ask the absence type.
- Only the absence types you are allowed are shown. Absences that would be available had you enough time in your bank are also shown.
- If you have an absence planned for today, it will show as the default
- Just below the absence type is a band with the balance and hours available in your associated time bank.
- Press the line with the for more info.
- The number of hours available will be less than the balance if you have future planned absences this year.
Absences planned this week
If you have absences planned this week, you may see a dialog box pop up (when you open the timesheet) which shows you all your absences planned this week.
- You can check those want to enter into your timesheet in advance (as taken) and press [OK]. So to take the whole week off you can enter all the absences at once (and enjoy your vacation )
If today is a holiday
On a holiday, the blue button might be labeled Take the holiday, and clicking on it might open a menu of options.
- The options available depend on company and union rules that apply to you. Possible options include taking the day off, or working on the holiday and getting paid double-time-and-half, or working and postponing the holiday to another date.
To add a premium
You won't be entering many premium. Most premiums you are entitled to are automatically added in the timesheet approval or payroll process, so you won't be entering them manually.
If a optional manual premium might apply, the [ADD PREMIUM] button will be shown.
- Enter your premiums after you have entered your time worked.
- Premiums appear at the bottom of your day (on the ONE-DAY panel), because premiums are recorded without start and end times.
- Just which premiums are available will probably depend on the work you did.
